Food Odyssey at Mactan Alfresco, The New Food Destination in the Mactan Newtown

This month of April, Megaworld officially opened to the public at The Mactan Newtown the Mactan Alfresco, a giant gazebo that houses different dining establishments in a hawker-style setting similar to that of Singapore. Located near the grand entrance of The Mactan Newtown, the Mactan Alfresco is easily seen from the Sto. Nino de Cebu-Mactan Parish. Hence, the churchgoers in this parish, particularly on weekends, are expected to be amongst the first people who will experience eating at the Mactan Alfresco.

One of the establishments present at the Mactan Alfresco, Choobi Choobi specializes on seafood. Their menu includes Chilean Mussels in a Bag and Shrimps in a Bag that come with boiled corn on the cob available in exciting flavours like Butter Garlic, Cajun, Sauteed in Garlic and Spicy Gata.

Craving for chicken? Conching’s delicacy to offer is none other than its roasted native chicken, locally known as Manok Bisaya, paired with puso or rice wrapped in triangular buri and banana leaves which one eats with their bare hands.

Going beyond chicken, Mama Linda’s and Manang Sayong grills pork, liver, native chorizo, squid, and fish like grouper (lapu-lapu), island mackerel (anduhaw) and parrotfish (molmol).

The Mactan Alfresco does not only serve native dishes, but also Mexican delicacies, thanks to Meximama, which menu includes nachos en salsa roja and chuletas, a dish consisting of marinated pork with mango jalapeno and pineapple salsa.

The last but not the least, the dining experience at the Mactan Alfresco would not be complete without trying the famous lechon of Cebu, in which visitors may choose among offerings from Ana’s, Ayer’s and Cebu’s Original Lechon Belly.

With the opening of the Mactan Alfresco at The Mactan Newtown, Cebuanos and the tourists visiting the city of Lapu-Lapu in Cebu now have a new destination where good food and unique dining experience merge. The Mactan Alfresco is just among the preliminary commercial and retail attractions emerging in The Mactan Newtown, Megaworld’s first integrated urban township with a beachfront in Central Visayas.
